The Sedbergh Reunion - Questions and Answers

For those of you who have not yet registered:

1.This final Sedbergh reunion is about reminding us of a life determining experience we all had in common in our youth. It has been planned as a relaxing, fluid weekend with very few official events but with ample opportunity to revisit the extraordinary place where so many of us were moulded.

2.The inauguration of Salle Sedbergh and the soon to be Sedbergh Room in the Chateau Montebello is the final stage in consolidating the memorabilia of those 70 years. You who visit those rooms in the future will be taken back to your own personal lives in the Valley through photographs, trophies, commentary, and so on. A research section will be available should someone want specific information through yearbooks, The Valley News, The Sedbergh News, the history of the school or, Heaven help them, for someone who wishes to write a follow-up book about the school! That we have been given these two spaces in perpetuity is a generous indication that Sedbergh made a difference, not only to us but to the local people and the area itself.

3.The cost of accommodation has been a concern to some of you. The reunion committee has worked hard to find suitable housing for all budgets. I am able to tell you that free camping is available for the Friday and Saturday nights. The Corbeil family has opened their domain in Orignal for Sedberghians who wish to camp with tent or vehicle. With AutoRoute 50 now open, it is but a half hour drive from Montebello.

I am negotiating with the Town Hall of Montebello to have the park directly behind the old station in the centre of the village open as well. Toilets and washing facilities are available there.

Between Montebello and Papineauville, a private landowner has agreed to open her property on Route 148 for camping on Saturday evening at a cost of $15.00 per tent.

For further information about accommodations, contact me. There really should be no reason why Saturday night housing costs should prevent any Old Sedberghian from joining this gathering. There is also a "Sunday Only" price if you are unable to come on Saturday.

4.The attendance list is filling slowly, but I must remind you that September 1 is the cut off day, for reasons which should make sense to everybody. Among all the planning, the caterer must order his supplies for both Saturday and Sunday, the staff at the village hall must prepare the tables and the chairs, the company providing the tent must determine its size, and sufficient furniture must be transported to the Lake, etc. etc. Putting together a reunion is not a simple project in itself, but it depends, above all, on your participation.

So, if you are coming, sign up.
